BAPI Announces New Director
June 2006
In early May BAPI's Managing Director and Cofounder, Mark Boccuzzi, announced that he would be leaving the Bay Area to take a research position in Tucson, AZ. A search was then conducted to find a new Director for BAPI. During that time, it was decided that it would be best to suspend our normal operations until a new Director was in place. It took a little while, but we are excited to announce that Michael Cline will be taking over BAPI.

A native of California, Michael's interest in the study of survival of conscience after death and psychokinesis started in 2005. Michael has investigated both private and public places, one of his favorite being the USS Hornet. He participated in the Dead Famous Live television program (broadcast in the UK). He is currently enrolled in a Certificate Program in Parapsychological Studies under the direction of Loyd Auerbach. Michael has been an active BAPI member and maintains membership in the Society for Psychical Research.

We believe Michael has the skills and dedication needed to move BAPI forward into new and exciting directions while still maintaining BAPI's commitment to rigorous research and analysis of data. We feel very fortunate to have him.

Human Subjects Training Required For Field Investigators
January 2006
In an ongoing effort to standardize our processes and maintain a high level of professionalism, BAPI will be adopting two new policies in 2006. Each active investigator will be required to complete a course in the ethics of human subject research and abide by the Ethical and Professional Standards for Parapsychologist as published by the Parapsychological Association in 2005.

To meet the human subjects training requirement, we are recommending current and potential investigators visit:
http://cme.cancer.gov/clinicaltrials/learning/humanparticipant-protections.asp and take this free on-line class developed by the National Institutes of Health.

The Parapsychological Association ethical standards can be found here:
http://www.parapsych.org/ethics.html

We hope that by adopting these new policies, we will continue to push our limits as we strive for higher levels of accuracy and integrity in our investigative process.

Investigations Continue Into 2006
December 2005

BAPI’s primary focus has been (and continues to be) to work with clients that bring us reports of ghosts and hauntings. However, we also have several ongoing investigations at historic sites around the Bay Area that will be continuing in to the new year.

Queen Anne Hotel, 1590 Sutter Street, San Francisco
The Queen Anne continues to be one of our favorite spots in San Francisco. We had several informal visits to the hotel in 2005. The most comprehensive of these visits took place in July when five BAPI investigators rented several suites including the allegedly haunted Mary Lake suite (Room 410). During this visit we set up a wide range of monitoring equipment in room 410 including real-time data collection sensors. With these sensors we were able to measure and record detailed changes in the room's temperature and local magnetic fields. We also recorded for EVP and conducted several experiments in the hopes of getting Mary Lake to interact with us. While we did collect some interesting data during our visits, we did not encounter anything that was conclusive. However, this case is still open and we will be spending more time at the Queen Anne in 2006.

USS Hornet, Alameda
We made number of visits to the Hornet this past year. We continue to take photos, record for EVPs and take environmental readings. So far the data is still inconclusive. We also had the opportunity to work with a sensitive who reported activity in several areas of the ship including the Fo’c’sel and the medical area. Future visits will focus on those areas.

Do you have a favorite site that you like to visit? Let us know and you can help us plan an investigation there!
